Is there anything better than the moment your favourite piece of pop culture becomes an edible delight? Well, we have good news for Wicked fans, because delving into a delicious Oz-themed delight is now a reality.
The musical-inspired afternoon tea officially launched at London’s Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park this week – and, unsurprisingly, the colour green is heavily featured throughout (think matcha and hazelnut pastries, to name just one emerald-coloured delight).
Elphaba’s milk chocolate mousse and caramel hat also makes an appearance, as does The Good Witch’s dark chocolate choux. And, as they’re all created by executive pastry chef Paul Thieblemont, we’ve no doubt every single bite is sure to be a dream come true for many a Wicked fan.

Prefer something a little more traditional in your afternoon tea? Don’t despair: sticking to the traditional treat-time format, there will also be a selection of sandwiches, scones and rose petal jam on offer – with a choice of over 40 rare teas to pick from, too.
Celebrating its 10th anniversary in London’s West End last year, the super successful musical of Wicked: The Untold Story of the Witches of Oz follows in the footsteps of only four others to have reached such great heights: Les Misérables, Mamma Mia!, The Phantom of the Opera and The Lion King.
It’s won three Tony awards and received ten nominations. The show, told from the perspective of wicked witch Elphaba, is based on the novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire.

Until the movie comes along, what could be better than an afternoon spent eating such treats while singing Defying Gravity?
The Wicked Afternoon Tea costs £28 for children (‘munchkins’) and £53 for adults (Or £63 if you wish to include a glass of champagne). To book contact the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park on 02072 023828.
