Throwing a wedding is often thought of as the most extravagant party of a person’s life. But for Dona Rosa and Seu Russo, who fell in love over 60 years ago, tying the knot didn’t involve a fancy venue or an expensive cake. In fact, when they tied the knot back in 1957, all the young couple had to celebrate their union was love and a handful of friends and family in their back yard to support them.
However, with hiring a photographer seen as an unnecessary expense, Rosa and Russo didn’t think to have any pictures taken of their big day.

“His grandfather made the yard, the aunt made the cake, the godmother sewed the dress,” explains Sao Paolo Fotografia.
Although the spirit of the day was beautiful, as “the family gathered to celebrate. In their hearts FAITH to build a good life together”, there was unfortunately “no photo to show”.
Which means that, for six decades, through the birth of nine children, 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, the Brazilian couple have had only their memories as a record of the day where it all began…
Until now, that is.
Their family reached out to Sao Paolo Fotografia, who agreed to take Rosa and Russo’s wedding photos 60 years after they first said their vows.
And, after hearing this story and feeling inspired by their love, he was all too happy to help them illustrate the most important chapter in their love story.

The couple and their loved ones headed to Chacara Terra Prometida in São Paulo, where Fernanda Caetano spoke to guests about the incredible love story of Rosa and Russo.
To make things extra-special, a group of creatives from the city joined forces to supply everything needed for a picture-perfect celebration: think a decidedly dapper three-piece suit and a floor-length, bohemian-style, lace dress, for starters.
