It's one of the most hotly anticipated films of 2015 and the latest trailer for the big-screen adaptation of EL James' erotic bestseller Fifty Shades of Grey does not disappoint.

The new ad offers a scintillating glimpse into an S&M love story that has taken the internet by storm and was a publishing phenomenon in book form, selling millions of copies worldwide.

Starring Jamie Dornan as Christian Grey and Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele, the movie clip - the second feature trailer to be released ahead of the film hitting our screens on 14 February - shows Anastasia's first meeting with the enigmatic business mogul.

The chemistry is immediate and a few brief glimpses of the storyline's steamier elements follow, including Anastasia's appraisal of the infamous "red room of pain" and a lustful embrace in a lift - along with a snippet showing a blindfold and a bit of duct tape. 

Producers for the film, directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson, have kept their cards close to their chest and not much is known about the upcoming feature adaptation.

Fans of the book will be interested to see how the sexually charged nature of the story is brought to life on screen.

The film's lead Dornan, 32, recently let slip that would be no full-frontal nudity.

 "You want to appeal to as wide an audience as possible without grossing them out. You don’t want to make something gratuitous, and ugly, and graphic," he said. 

"Sam [Taylor-Johnson, the director] is a very bright woman, so there might be some suggestive elements to it, but I haven’t seen it at this stage, so it is hard for me to say. I’m aware of what we shot, and it wasn’t as if we shot a film without any action... There were contracts in place that said that viewers wouldn’t be seeing my, um…"

Prompted by a suggestion from the interviewer, the actor ended his sentence with, "Yeah, my todger."

However The Fall actor did admit he'd attended a real-life S&M session as background training for the role. 

The latest trailer of EL James' trilogy appears to have more of a rom com feel to it, with an emphasis on the relationship between Christian and Anastasia, rather than their S&M adventures. 

"He was really smart, really intense," says Anastasia, of her first encounter with the formidable Mr. Grey.

"My tastes are very…singular," he warns her. "You should steer clear of me, I’m not the man for you."
