This is how strangers react to being told they are beautiful

When an 18-year-old student in Chicago set about capturing beauty at her school, little did she know it was the makings of a social experiment on how people react to being told they are beautiful. Or that it would be watched by millions on YouTube.

Shea Glover asked numerous teachers and students at her performing arts school - some of whom she knew, but most of whom she didn't - to allow her to take pictures for a project.

It was only when the camera started rolling that Glover told them what her project was about: "I'm taking pictures of things I find beautiful."

Sudden smiles, surprise, disbelief and blushing cheeks were some of the reactions she captured.

One woman disbelievingly told Glover to "shut up". She continued, "Are you done then? Do you have what you need? 'Cause clearly you're being goofy".

Glover says she wants to clarify that her "intentions were not to get a reaction out of people. I was simply filming beauty and this is the result. Here it is."

The video was created six months ago but gained popularity over the weekend after being picked up by a string of websites. It's since been watched over 4 million times.
