If you've had to say goodbye to a grandparent, you'll know that looking through their personal belongings, clearing their home and finding closure is an emotionally difficult process.
For Welsh animator and illustrator Gemma Green-Hope, when her grandmother Elizabeth (or Gan-Gan as she called her) passed away in 2010, sorting through her possessions not only evoked memories, but also resulted in a new understanding of who her grandmother was.
"How do you make sense of all the other things that someone leaves behind, the things nobody sees, boxes full of photographs, and bits of string?" said Green-Hope on Vimeo.
The artist transformed the old books, clothes, jewellery and photographs she found into a touching stop-motion portrait.
The result is an evocative and beautiful short film about her grandmother which brought back memories of our own nans.
