The humble croissant just got a goey Kit Kat makeover, and you're going to want it for breakfast

These days, it's quite difficult to make your mark when it comes to new sweet treats. After all, we've had pecan pie and pretzel milkshakes, Nutella dougnuts in milkshakes and even Nutelasagna.

Yet the Pronto coffee house in Japan just upped the desert ante with its own take on the humble croissant: the Kit Kat croissant.

They took the buttery pastry, they stuffed it with not one, but two Kit Kats, and they popped it in the oven for a few minutes. The result: a croissant with a warm and gooey chocolate bar in its centre.

In case you're not already salivating on your iPhone/keyboard, the super-croissants come in two dreamy flavours, milk chocolate or matcha green tea (for the more health-conscious).

Granted, that's quite a limited choice considering Japan is unofficially the land of Kit Kats, with flavours as varied as strawberry, cinnamon cookie and brandy and orange - but we won't hold it against them.

Unfortunately, if you're already in the process of booking your next holiday to Japan (we don't blame you), we must warn you that the sweet treats are limited edition only, so they may have disappeared by the time you get there.

However, we're pretty sure you could do your own homemade version with a tin of Jus-Rol croissant dough and a packet of Kit Kats. Enjoy.
