These are the 10 highest paying jobs in the UK in 2015

We all know money doesn't always bring happiness, but when someone mentions their salary our ears perk up.

Today the Office for National Statistics released its annual Survey of Hours and Earnings for the year, highlighting the 10 jobs that pull in the biggest salaries.

While brokers and financial advisers were little surprise, marketing directors took the number three spot rising up four places since last year's list

Aircraft pilots and medical practitioners dropped by a few places (the former was the highest paid job last year), though they are still considered one of the best paid jobs in the country.

The occupations that didn't make the top 10 list this year but were in 2014's, include senior police officers and senior professionals of educational establishments.

Overall, Britons enjoyed a 1.9% rise in earnings (after inflation) the ONS said earlier this month. However that is nowhere near the 3.5%-4% level expected by the Bank of England.

The UK's highest paid jobs of 2015

  1. Brokers - £128,231
    Includes: stockbrokers, shipping brokers, foreign exchange dealers, insurance brokers, investment administrators and traders.
     
  2. Chief executives and senior officials - £122,967
    Includes: vice-presidents, chief medical officers and civil servants (grade 5 and above).
     
  3. Marketing directors - £89,933
    Includes: sales directors
  4. Aircraft pilots - £87,474
    Includes: flight engineers, first officers, flying instructors and helicopter pilots.

  5. Financial managers and directors - £82,565
    Includes: investment bankers and treasury managers.

  6. Financial institution managers and directors -  £80,755
    Includes: bank managers and insurance managers.

  7. Medical practitioners - £80,628
    Includes: anaesthetists, hospital consultants, doctors, GPs, paediatricians, psychiatrists, radiologists and surgeons.

  8. Legal professionals (except judges, barristers and solicitors) -  £80,578
    Includes: patent attorneys, in-house company lawyers, magistrates’ clerks and advisers at law centres.

  9. Air traffic controllers - £77,220
    Includes: flight planners

  10. IT directors -  £70,971
    Includes: telecommunications and technical directors
