It's one of 2016's most anticipated thrillers. And now the first trailer for The Girl on the Train, the film adaptation of Paula Hawkins' bestselling novel of the same name, has arrived.
The film stars Emily Blunt as troubled protagonist Rachel Watson, a recovering alcoholic whose husband has left her for another woman. Rachel becomes fixated on the lives of Megan and Tom, an attractive couple whose house she can see from the window of her regular train to London. When Megan goes missing, Rachel finds herself under suspicion - and she can't remember what she was doing on the night of Megan's disappearance.
In a recent interview with Stylist, Blunt revealed that her daughter Hazel wasn't impressed by the makeup she had to wear to play a “raging boozer”. “She was a bit put off by my rosacea face,” she laughed. “She was like ‘Ooo, red’ when she saw my face.”
Hawkins's novel sold over three million copies in the US alone in the year it was released, and topped the UK hardback book chart for over 20 weeks - the longest any book has occupied the number one spot. The movie version, directed by Tate Taylor (The Help), also stars Rebecca Ferguson, Justin Theroux, Lisa Kudrow and Allison Janney.
