The Devil Wears Prada is set to become a stage musical. That's All

The hit film starring Meryl Streep as the formidable and demanding fashion magazine editor is being developed into a song and dance production by producer Kevin McCollum - who has previously worked on Rent and Avenue Q - according to the Associated Press.

It's the brainchild of McCollum and 20th Century Fox, who signed a sponsored_longform in 2013 in efforts to make musicals of more hit films including Mrs. Doubtfire.

The four-time Tony award winner is currently behind the stage version of Ever After, the 1998 Cinderella retelling which starred Drew Barrymore, and performances are set to begin later this month in New Jersey, USA.

Serendipitously, the three main female leads in The Devil Wears Prada have already demonstrated their brilliant singing skills.

Streep performed in 2008's Mama Mia and again last year in Into the Woods alongside Emily Blunt. She's also turned her hands to rock singing in the upcoming drama Ricki and the Flash.

Meanwhile,Anne Hathaway won an Oscar for her musical role in Les Misérables and is currently appearing in a stage production of Grounded in New York, but has never appeared on Broadway.

Not to forget Hathaway and Blunt's incredible Lip Sync Battle battle last month, which became an internet sensation.

While there is no guarantee the three actresses will take to the stage, Streep and Blunt have both said they would consider reprising their roles for a sequel, based on author Lauren Weisberger's second book Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns.

"I feel the same as her (Streep) and yes I think I would do it. We all were told to go on these skinny diets for the first time, but I'd be up for it," Blunt told Vogue
