In news that surprises no-one here at stylist.co.uk, prosecco has overtaken champagne for the first time as Britain's most popular variety of bubbles.
New figures show us Brits consumed 30 million litres of the popular Italian sparkling wine in the past year, compared with 9.8 million litres of the more expensive (and traditionally, more sophisticated) French champagne.
In celebration of the fact, we've put together a round up of the very best bottles to stockpile your fridge with. Chin, chin!
Dino Prosecco DOC
Fizz aficionados will tell you that 'proper' Prosecco features a DOC label - meaning the drink originates from Denominazione di Origine in Northeast Italy.
£12.99, Tesco.com
Prosecco Magnum
Fresh floral aromas and hints of zingy lemon, grapefruit, pear and green apple make this magnum the perfect match for a hazy afternoon. And if you buy two bottles, you'll save 25%.
£20, Marks & Spencer
Classic Prosecco
Made in a boutique winery in the Dolomite foothills, this bottle's clean, fruity flavour is especially good with milk and white chocolate.
£18, Hotelchocolat.com
Prosecco Superiore
A Bronze Award winner at the Decanter Wine Awards 2013, this medium-bodied Prosecco has a long, dry aftertaste - perfect with fish or shellfish.
£10, Rudewines.co.uk
Prosecco Rustico
At the sweeter end of the Brut Prosecco spectrum, this still works well for those who prefer dry sparklers.
Extra Special Prosecco
Produced in Northeast Italy, this Prosecco is perfect for mixing with peach juice to make a classic Bellini.
£8.50, Asda.com
Sorso Prosecco Doc
You can save 1/3 on this zesty bottle at Morrisons, and the peardrop notes pair perfectly with a bowl of crisps or nuts.
£6.99, Morrisons.com
Bottega Gold Prosecco
Founded by master distiller Aldo Bottega in the hills surrounding Venice, this ultra premium Prosecco is made from hand picked grapes using the modern Charmat method, where the Prosecco undergoes a second fermentation before being bottled under pressure. The bottle's pretty gorgeous, too.
£19.99, Drinksupermarket.com
Prosecco Vetriano
Perfect with a salad on a balmy summer's day, this classic Italian bottle features gentle pear, white peach and apple flavours and a lovely creamy texture.
£7.99, Frazierswine.co.uk
Prosecco Frizzante Spago
Produced on the hills of Treviso, this bottle is made predominantly with Prosecco grapes, but a very small percentage of Pinot, Riesling and Veridisio. The creamy, lemon-tanged palate gives a bright, lively finish - the perfect choice for a party.
£8.99, Ndjohn.co.uk
