Shoreditch hotel launches hipster wedding package, with graffiti invites and complimentary tattoos

Love a hipster wedding? Well you’re in luck, because a London hotel has launched a nuptials package specifically targeted at this modern-age subculture.

The Andaz London Liverpool Street in the heart of Shoreditch (where else?) is offering happy couples the chance to tie the knot in true East London style.

Their bespoke “Get Shore-hitched” promotion is meticulously hipster.

It features handcrafted graffiti invitations created by local street artists and complimentary tattoos. The newlyweds can feast on canapes and a wedding breakfast menu created by Shoreditch street food vendors.

After the wedding, if there’s a bridal gown involved, a local Shoreditch designer will recycle it into an outfit that can be used over and again.

Ceremonies will take place in the hotel’s Masonic Temple, a secret room hidden away in the depths of the hotel (below).

The City’s only original Freemason’s meeting lodge, it was built in 1912 and is unique enough to satisfy even the most stringent hipster’s appetite.

The space features heavy studded doors and gilt fittings, alongside a magnificent zodiac ceiling and a mahogany-panelled anteroom.

There’s no word yet on whether the Andaz’s new package will involve artisan coffee shots or a live stream for absent guests, but the hotel promises that spouses-to-be “can choose to work with as many East London suppliers as they want”.

Couples “can choose how much of Shoreditch they bring into their big day”, the hotel says. “Andaz’s team of dedicated wedding planners will link with a number of East London-based organisations… from florists to beauticians, to photographers and entertainers.”

Shoreditch certainly isn’t short on enterprising businesses that could help make a wedding go with a swing.

On the food front, guests could feast on ahi tuna tacos with wasabi guacamole from Bob’s Lobster at Dinerama. Alternatively, you’ve got the option to tuck into  Argentinian grilled chorizo and steak bread wraps (below) or beetroot bondas with mint chutney – as served up at Urban Food Fest.

For hipster beverages, cutting edge craft ales from BrewDog Shoreditch is surely the only way forward.

The Cheeky parlour on Redchurch Street offers quick-fix manicures, pedicures, up-dos and blowouts late into the night, for those in need of a last-minute beauty fix.

For entertainment, why not look to this national circus school in Hoxton, who hire out performers and trainers (in case your wedding party wants to get down with a unicycle trick or two). Or to lend a futuristic twist, there’s a host of virtual reality studios in the area that could surely bring a certain je ne sais quoi to your Big Day.

Of course, Andaz doesn’t necessarily work with all these companies, but it gives you a flavour of what you could do.

Hipster wedding? Sorted. Just don’t forget your pocket watch...

The price of the ‘Get Shore-hitched’ package at Andaz London Liverpool Street varies depending on inclusions. The hotel will be hosting a Wedding Fair and Open Day on the 9 September,  where it will be offering one couple the chance to win an all-expenses paid wedding for free.
