Why you should only shave your legs late at night, according to experts

There are two types of people in the world; those who shower in the morning, and those who shower at night.

And then, of course, there’s the third, most unusual sort: those who take baths.

There’s no wrong or right way of doing things; some say showering in the morning boosts creativity, while washing come bedtime helps you to relax and unwind before bed.

However it seems as if there’s now a very good reason to insist on having your shower (or bath) in the evenings – and it all has to do with shaving your legs.

That's right; if you have chosen to remove your body hair via shaving (and there's no need to remove it at all, if you don't want to – your body, your choice), the timing is crucial.

According to beauty experts, we should be shaving our legs just before we hop into bed.

There’s a science behind it, too; as we sleep, our legs become warm and swell slightly which means that the little hairs we may have missed retreat back into their follicles and are less obvious.

As a result, your legs will appear smoother the next day.

If you shave your legs in your morning shower, however, it raises your temperature – so, when you head outside into the cold, your pores and skin tighten.

This means your hairs will appear and feel pricklier throughout the day.

If you’re a bath person, however, a word of caution.

“Don't use this as an excuse for a lengthy bath before bed,” experts tell the Mail Online.

“After 15 or 20 minutes in the water, your skin wrinkles, making it difficult to get a close shave.”

The moral of the story is simple; schedule your hair removal tasks for the evening.

That way, you’ll enjoy them to their maximum effect – and you’ll also get to enjoy that oh-so-good feeling of slipping freshly-shaved legs into your sheets at night.

Perfection.
