As the months get cooler, X Factor returns and nothing seems more appealing than a night on the sofa there is one foodstuff that we want to indulge in. Ordered over the phone, or made in your own oven, pizza is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser. Whether you're a calzone fan, or Hawaiian enthusiast, we've been scouring the internet for the best pizzas available, and here are our mouthwatering picks...

1. Mini pizzas

Everything is tastier in minature. It's just a fact. And mini pizzas are ideal for sharing if you have a group of people coming round. These Sicilian inspired ones even have space for toppings like courgettes and cherry tomatoes, and look quite frankly amazing. The only problem with them being small is that they disappear a lot more rapidly...

Vegetarians, rejoice. Pizza is the one food that doesn't prompt annoying questions about why you're not adding meat to everything you eat, because vegetable pizzas are delicious. This one with peppers, aubergine and courgettes is a perfect example. Roasted vegetables have summer written all over them, and combining them with cheese makes for a rich flavouring dream.

Somehow, folding a pizza in half makes it doubly as tasty. Piling your fillings inside and letting them roast inside the dough means they're mixed in a delicious blend of cheese, sauce, and whatever you fancy. When is a pizza not a pizza? When it's shaped like an ice cream cone of course. This genius way of presenting your pizza is actually very simple - cut the dough into squares, then wrap each one with greaseproof paper to hold it in place and add toppings into the space left in the middle, then get ready to impress. Make sure you have plenty of dips for the cone end!

You can't go wrong with a classic, and a margherita is certainly that. Ever since the Queen of Savoy, Margherita, was invited to choose between three pizza flavours to be named after her and this came out on top, the simple-but-effective combination of cheese and tomato has been unquestionably popular. If there's one pizza recipe you're going to master, this is it.

Sounds disgusting - taste delicious. Although pizzas are traditionally savoury, baking dessert ingredients onto a dough base makes for a surprisingly tasty dessert - think sweet and savoury crepes. Nutella, jams, nuts all work really well for a dessert with a difference. Best of all, they're really simple to make. This cinnamon strudel pizza is just a combination of cinammon and sugar - yum!

7. Pizza cake

If a sweet pizza doesn't draw you in, how about this invention? Canadian chain Boston Pizza ran a competition to find a quirky new way of presenting their wares, offering up a collection of pizza burgers, mint pizzas and a pizza slice shaped napkin for the public to vote between. This six-layered cheese tower won by a mile, and Bake Off contestant James Morton then attempted to make his own version. We're just not sure how we'd dig in.

8. Healthy pizza

Pizza is normally cheese-laden (which is part of what makes it so tasty). But there's no reason that you can't enjoy it as part of a rounded diet. Throwing a tonne of greens on the top normally does the job for 'making something healthy', but this beautiful basil and roasted garlic ricotta pizza is made with gluten free dough, and almond ricotta making it suitable for both coeliac and vegan diets.

Summer, is of course, a time for barbeques, so why not have a barbeque flavoured pizza to boot? Opinions are divided about whether adding BBQ sauce to a pizza is heresy or not, but this homemade chicken creation - doused in home made BBQ sauce - certainly has us drooling.
