Superfood cocktail bar opens in London, promising (possibly) hangover-free drinks

Having a couple of drinks after work can feel like a necessity some days, but it can leave you feeling remorseful (and wretched) the next day. So we were delighted to hear about a new cocktail bar in Chelsea which may have the answer - all its cocktails are made with organic spirits, superfoods and cold-pressed juices.

While a superfood diet can often seem intimidating and a sacrifice of some of the better things in life, Tanya's Cafe, located in the MyHotel in Chelsea, specialises in raw food versions of pizza, burgers, chocolate and cheesecakes and best of all, has an extensive cocktail menu.

During the day, Tanya's Cafe serves juices, smoothies and healthy foods, but after 4pm, the cocktail menu is on offer - with walnut infused vodka, sweet potato cocktails and even alcoholic drinks that could potentially cure a hangover, thanks to the inclusion of ingredients like chia seeds, which are hydrating full of energy boosting Omega-3. Talk about hair of the dog.

The raw food offerings include a raw vegan pad thai, lasagne made with mushroom meat and fermented cheese, and breakfast offerings with 'un-toast' made of raisin bread. Garnishes include flower petals, herbs and even stinging nettles.

The bar is the brainchild of Tanya Maher, a holistic food and detox specialist who has eaten a raw food diet since the age of 14, after she suffered a car accident that damaged her internal organs. Instead of opting to have her pancreas cut out, Tanya's parents decided to try a healthier diet to see if her body could cope without an operation.

After eating a vegan raw food diet, "everything changed". Tanya became a wellness coach, and set up the company Better Raw by Tanya. She then realised that there was a gap in the market for a restaurant, cafe and bar with her eating ideas, and Tanya's Cafe was born.

Drinks on the cocktail menu include a What The Doctor Ordered - a mix of vodka, lemon, beetroot, carrots, sweet potato, raw honey, chia seeds and ginger and lavender bitters - and a Filthy Rich - made with walnut infused vodka, cherries, cacao powder acai berry, vanilla bitters and maple syrup.

There are also several superfood twists on classic cocktails including Margarita made with agave nectar and a Himalayan salt rim, a daquiri with added matcha powder, an Pina Colada featuring coconut palm sugar and hemp.

If you don't fancy a cocktail however, there are a range of vegan certified wines - and Heieneken on offer too. Although we're not sure why you'd come to a superfood cafe to have a beer...

Tanya's Cafe serves breakfast from 7am, lunch from 11:30am and cocktails from 4pm at myhotel Chelsea, 35 Ixworth Place, SW3 3QX.
