A quirky contraption from Argentina is raising the game of the world's most popular fruit.
DestapaBanana is a tool that stuffs the slippery-skinned snack with your filling of choice - from nutella, caramel or marshmallow, to healthier options such as kale puree, natural yoghurt or oatmeal smoothie.
It works like an apple corer-come-turkey baster - removing a portion of the banana's inner flesh and replacing it with your liquid filling.
Inventor Sebastian Berger said: “When I realised you can combine dulce de leche with banana and turn the fruit into a dessert in a very hygienic, attractive, fun and tasty way, I knew it would revitalise the market.”
Sadly Berger has yet to find a British distributor for his banana booster, but the product is set to be launched in Switzerland soon.
It's not the first intriguing banana-related kitchen accessory to hit the market.
SPLITTER
If you prefer to tuck into food that's presented neatly and evenly, Amco has the answer with its banana splitter that also peels and cuts.
STORAGE
You might get some funny looks if you whip out the Banana Bunker on the bus but this purpose-built will definitely keep your fruit intact on-the-go.
SAVER
For all those half a banana eaters, there's a device that keeps the other half of your fruit fresh for a few days.
