Percy Pig has had a spooky Halloween revamp (but he’s still delicious)

Haven’t we all done well on the Halloween treats front this year?
Our outgrowing of trudging through neighbourhood streets crying “Trick or treat!” in a quest for free sugar doesn’t mean our days of Halloween indulgences are over.
And 2017 has already seen the boozy delights of pumpkin spiced cream liqueur, Colin the Caterpillar’s terrifying makeover and Krispy Kreme’s spine-chilling doughnuts, so we’re spoiled for choice with spooky delicacies.
Now we’ve got another to add to the list, as Marks & Spencer food-hall-favourite Percy Pig has made his Halloween debut with an eerie limited-edition version.
If you’re anything like us, you’ll struggle to make it through an M&S checkout point without throwing a bag of Percys in your basket, so you can’t imagine our glee at having another excuse to try out those deliciously nibblesome sweets.
To refresh your memory (as if we didn’t snaffle a pack, like, yesterday) Percy, the adorable confectionery pig due to celebrate his 25th birthday in July, usually graces the front of his plastic home surrounded by cheerful pink and green tones, happily leaning up against his farmyard fence.
For the Halloween edition however, not only has the whole gang come on board for a new orange-themed design, which sees Percy and two mini-mes donning pumpkin masks and a vampire costume, but the much-loved sweet has also received a name change – Percy Pumpkin.
Upon tearing open a packet you’ll see that the usual peachy-coloured jelly sweets have been replaced with a ghoulish green and orange, sporting a pumpkin-style, jagged toothed grin.
You can be assured though that the taste will stay the same, with the sweet’s description reading, “spooky soft gums made with real fruit juice”.
The bags are available in-store, priced £1.65.
In a press release, an M&S spokesperson explained that when it comes to Halloween costume excitement, Percy is no different to the rest of us: “Like many of us, Percy loves dressing up for Halloween. This year Percy has taken inspiration from the popular Halloween staple – the pumpkin."
Percy fans have been loving the seasonal update, with many taking to Twitter to express their love for the lovely little pig and his new Halloween get-up.
Your revamp might have you looking a little spookier than normal Percy, but it won’t scare us off.
