While we know we should probably kick off the day in a somewhat healthy fashion, sometimes the call of the pastry is just too much. And there’s nothing wrong with that; few things cheer us more after a horrendous commute nor soothe a weekday hangover more than a golden, flaky croissant. So when bakery chain Paul announced its latest offering for the festive season, all our Christmas breakfast prayers were answered.
Promising “festive cheer meets quality French patisserie”, this is a mince pie croissant. Yep, that’s your favourite December treat combined with your favourite morning munch, to give your ams – or pms, there’s no croissant etiquette over here – that extra little bit of magic.
And while keyboards and croissants aren’t the best of friends, we’re pretty sure that an “all-butter croissant filled with rich, sweet mincemeat and dusted with icing sugar” will make those pesky flakes worth it.
If, like us, you can’t wait to sink your teeth into this mince pie melange, you’ll have to exercise your patience for a few more weeks as the croissants, costing £1.75 each, won’t launch in UK stores until 28 November.
We have a feeling it will be worth the wait. See you in the queue...
