This cult favourite snack is getting an alcoholic upgrade.
Whether it be pink gin, pumpkin-flavoured liquor or alcoholic popsicles, we’re suckers for a drinks trend. But the latest one might be the scrummiest yet.
We don’t know about you, but for us Jaffa Cakes hit a particular sweet spot. Not only do they taste divine, but the delicious, spongey snacks are the topic of endless debate. In fact, we can’t open a packet without discussing, at quite some depth, what they really are (cake or biscuit?) and how to eat them (nibble off the chocolate or swallow hole?).
But although we usually team our Jaffa Cakes quota with a cup of tea, we’re thrilled to find out that soon, there’ll be a much more alcoholic option available, thanks to Marks & Spencer.
The high street retailer is already known for its selection of cult foodie treats (Percy Pig we’re looking at you) and now, they’ve taken their flair for sweet stuff and created a new cocktail mix that tastes just like Jaffa Cakes. Yum.
They’ve described the rum-based bottled cocktail as “a liquid alcoholic Jaffa Cake” and frankly, we can’t think of anything better.

A 35cl bottle is set to be priced at £10, although you can’t buy it at the shops just yet. The drink’s release is expected to be on 24 September, so keep your eyes peeled for that orangey goodness.
In terms of serving suggestions, the drinks experts at M&S recommend shaking it with ice in a cocktail shaker, and then just serving straight into a glass of your choice. Easy peasy.
They’ve also coined this as one of the best drinks to serve at a dinner party, seeing as its totally delicious and yet supremely easy to serve as it’s pre-made. So, although you might have to wait a few more weeks to get the cocktail itself, we reckon it’s a good excuse to start party planning now…
