Is anything more tempting than Oreo pancakes?

Oreos are becoming the ultimate baking ingredient. And when they're used to make pancakes which look like this, we find it hard to disagree with that fact.

It's official: Oreos can be added to anything, more or less. Oreo milkshakes are our first choice at any diner-style restaurant, Oreo cupcakes have got an edge over red velvet cupcakes, and now Oreo pancakes have hit the scene.

US food blogger Jocelyn Delk Adams has created a recipe for Oreo pancakes - featured on her blog Grandbaby Cakes - that not only sound delicious, but look the part too, with an Oreo inspired design.

Joceyln wrote that "I sensed an early mid-life crisis about to occur which was only cured by these Oreo pancakes" - reflecting on where you are in life is easy when you have a pile of chocolatey goodness to eat your way through.

They're not even very difficult to make, provided you have the Bake Off-worthy artistic touch that Jocelyn has. See below for the recipe.

And best of all, they just about qualify as a breakfast food. We're throwing away our sack of porridge oats as we speak.

Ingredients

For the pancakes

200g plain flour

1 1/4 tsp baking powder

4 tbsp granulated sugar

2 tbsp cocoa powder

2 large eggs

150g buttermilk (or full fat milk)

55g butter

50g chopped Oreos

For the whipped cream

225g double cream

1 tsp cornflour

1 tsp granulated sugar

50g chopped Oreos

Extra Oreos and chocolate sauce, to decorate

Method

1. Mix the dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, sugar, cocoa powder) in a bowl.

2. Add the wet ingredients (eggs, milk) and Oreos, mix until there is a thick consistency.

3. Fry the pancakes one by one, using a ladle to measure out the right amount and waiting until each side turns brown and bubbly, then keep them in a warm oven as you make the others.

4. Whip the cream with the cornflour and sugar until it forms stiff peaks, then add the Oreos to this mixture.

5. Design your pancake stack, using the whipped cream as the Oreo filling, and drizzling chocolate sauce and extra Oreos on top to decorate.
