Part of the allure of JK Rowling’s Harry Potter series is being privy to a secret world of witchcraft and wizardry.

Every Potterhead has imagined themselves tapping the brick wall behind the Leaky Cauldron to be transported to Diagon Alley, or marvelled over the plethora of secret rooms and passages in Hogwarts.

Well, fellow Harry Potter fans, now you can taste (literally) the magic for yourself.

After waving goodbye to their Christmas cups for another year, Starbucks is treating customers and JK Rowling devotees to some super secretive Harry Potter-themed treats.

The menu is shrouded in more secrecy than a cloak of invisibility, meaning you won’t find any advertisement in stores or clues from baristas. But muggles in the know can get their hands on Butterbeer lattes and Butterbeer frappes – if they utter the magic words.

Depending on your desired order, reel off a specific concoction of ingredients (just imagine you’re in potions class) and your server will know what to do.

Butter Beer Latte  

To order yourself a Butterbeer latte, read out the following order:

• Whole milk latte
• Two pumps of caramel syrup 
• Two pumps of toffee nut syrup
• Two pumps of cinnamon dolce 
• Whipped cream
• Caramel sauce
• Salt topping

And voila, a coffee that could have been crafted in Hogsmeade is yours for the drinking. 

Butterbeer Frappuccino

If you’d prefer something a little cooler, read out the following order to secure yourself the frappuccino version:

• Whole milk creme frappuccino 
• Three pumps of caramel syrup 
• Three pumps of toffee nut syrup
• Whipped cream
• Caramel sauce

It isn’t confirmed how this mystical recipe came about. Fans continue to post slightly varied recipes on social media and Starbucks is yet to confirm whether they purposefully created the coffee version of the beer that JK Rowling describes as “little bit like less-sickly butterscotch”. 

If you really want to take your Butterbeer Latte to the next level, we reckon enjoying your beverage in a magical, colour changing goblet ought to do the trick. 

Whether you guard the secret with your life or tell your closest witches, whatever you do, don’t let He Who Shall Not Be Named in on it - he’s bound to spoil the fun.
