For too long, those in countries far from us have been able to indulge their Hello Kitty adoration in eateries solely dedicated to the billion-dollar cartoon character.

Now, us poor unfortunate souls in the UK will finally get to don our Hello Kitty tee, sling our Hello Kitty bag over our shoulder and join the rest of our like in a pop-up London café.

Soho bakery Cutter & Squidge is hosting the Sanrio creation from 1 June in a “secret garden Hello Kitty paradise” where customers can order treats such as Mama’s Home-Made Apple Pie Biskie (a version of the bakery’s signature fusion biscuit-cookie-cake), Kitty’s Mud Pie Chocolate Dream Cake and a special afternoon tea presented in bamboo steamers.

It runs until the end of August. Cutter & Squidge’s co-owner Annabel Lui says: “We are beyond excited to be the first European café to host this beloved character.

“The US venues have seen up to 2,000 people waiting in line for five hours to experience her world and we are looking forward to witnessing similar scenes here in our Secret Garden. Our only worry is that the range will be too cute to eat!”

A worry we can totally get on board with, but we promise to get over if you let us in. Other products promised include new flavours, baking kits, soft-serve ice cream and vegetarian marshmallows, as well as limited-edition merchandise featuring the cat (who, to clarify, is definitely a cat and not a human girl after some confusion a while back).
