When it comes to sharpening your pencil, the shavings are usually wiped off the table, thrown into the bin and forgotten forever. Who wants to keep pencil shavings? No one, that’s who. However, what if we told you that with the pencils created by Japanese design studio Nendo, you would be treasuring every single one of those precious little shavings? Don’t believe us? Well read on…
The acclaimed Japanese studio has created the ultimate tool for blending the worlds of art and cuisine – the chocolate pencil. Nendo originally created these amazing pencils for pâtissier Tsujiguchi Hironobu, as both parties strongly believe that art and food go hand in hand. The design studio argues that the art of putting brush to canvas closely resembles the process of plating a beautiful dish. “We wanted to show off the beauty of meals and desserts like a painting on a canvas,” says Nendo.
The idea behind this innovative creation is to use the special ‘pencil sharpener’ to grate the chocolate pencils over the dessert, creating chocolate shavings. The pencil case features a variety of cocoa blends that vary in intensity, suiting the tastes of every chocophile.
These edible pencils would be the perfect gift for any art lovers, foodies or chocolate addicts out there. Regular pencils will never look the same to us again...
