Cakes are normally sweet and beautiful. Some would say they're irritatingly perfect. 

But one woman is fast gaining fame for bringing a darker side to the pastel-world of baking on Instagram.

Isabella Giancarlo's account which goes by the name EatYrHeartsOut shows cakes and pies embellished with blunt messages of heartbreak. 

The designer (and baker) from Brooklyn, New York, says she wanted to sweeten the words that were uttered during previous break-ups - the ones that made her lose her appetite.

“Break-ups are often so fraught with awkwardness, cliches, and lines that stay with us long after they’ve been said,” Giancarlo told BuzzFeed.

She originally sourced quotes from her own failed relationships and that of friends when she launched the project two week ago, but now fans can submit their own messages on her website.

With 11 break-up bakes done and over 600 Instagram followers (and counting), these sweet treats are definitely ones to watch.
