Introducing the cheester egg: the ultimate Easter treat for savoury food fans

Sweet tooths luck out at Easter – but if you’ve ever felt left out as a savoury food fan, then we have good news: someone has concocted a solid cheese egg.

Following the success of her cheese advent calendar, food blogger Annem Hobson - author of So Wrong It’s Nom - has just launched The Cheester Egg.

She’s teamed up with Wildes Cheese to create the egg-shaped block with a recipe based on the brand’s Napier cheese, which was voted London’s Favourite Cheese in 2015 at the Urban Food Awards.

It’s fair to say Annem is very passionate about bringing seasonal cheese to the masses. “Chocolate is okay, but it’s a little boring and frankly I’m sick of seeing it dominating key retail periods,” she writes in her post introducing the egg.

“Cheese is what excites me so I’m thrilled my plans for a Cheester Egg have finally hatched and that the Cheese Advent Calendar is becoming a reality. There’s a whole army of cheese lovers out there showing me their support and I hope I’m doing them proud.”

The 260g egg promises a cheese that is crumbly yet creamy with a strong flavour and costs £14.95.

It will be available to purchase online at So Wrong It’s Nom, as well as at selected markets in London. And if you want to give a cheese lover an extra special treat there are a limited number of ‘Nest Hampers’ available for £29.95 including Peter’s Yard Sourdough Crispbread and locally produced quince.

Happy Cheester!
