This gin is one of the best in the world – and it costs under £10

We thought it was so good we included it in our round-up of the best possible ways to enjoy gin, and it’s been scooping industry awards for years.

Now Oliver Cromwell London Dry Gin has once again confirmed its place at the very top of the gin charts, by winning a gold medal at the 2017 International Wine & Spirits Challenge

The best part? It costs just £9.97 a bottle from Aldi.

The supermarket’s drinks range took home the overall award for Supermarket Own Brand Spirits Range of the Year, as well as a stonking 20 medals, with winners including the Tamova Vodka (£9.97) and Glen Marnoch Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky (£17.49). And in May, its £5.99 rosé was also named one of the best in the world.

But back to the gin (the one you’re really interested in) – Aldi’s budget juniper spirit beat silver medalists costing considerably more, such as Foxhole London Dry (£39.95), Copper House (£27), Beefeater London Dry (£18) and 58 Gin (£29.75).

Another supermarket gin made an impression and was also awarded gold – but at £17, Tesco Finest London Dry Gin is nearly twice the price of Aldi’s.

Aldi’s premium gin was also awarded, with the brand’s £13.99 Topaz Blue receiving a silver medal.

Long story short, our food:booze trolley ratio has just been significantly altered.
