They spend their days creating dishes for other people, but where do London's top chefs choose to go for a meal? We take a look at 10 restaurants in the capital given the experts' seal of approval.

ROKA

Rachel Humphrey, the first female head chef at London's iconic Le Gavroche restaurant, told Stylist.co.uk that she is a fan of Roka's modern Japanese cuisine - specifically the chain's new Mayfair offering.

"I always feel relaxed when I’m in there," she said. "The atmosphere is great, and the food is fantastic."

THE PROVIDORES

Anna Hansen MBE, owner of the award-winning fusion restaurant Modern Pantry, recommends breakfast at The Providores, which serves Antipodean fusion cuisine.

Along with stellar breakfast offerings, it boasts Europe's largest selection of New Zealand wines.

Anna told the Evening Standard she enjoys: “Turkish eggs or brown rice, miso and apple porridge.”

KOYA

When Florence Knight, head chef at hugely popular Italian restaurant Polpetto, is in the mood for Japanese, she heads to Koya.

"I love Koya," she told Square Meal. "Particularly the special lunch menu."

MEATLIQUOR

Paul Daniel, head chef of Fitzrovia's stylish The Riding House Café, can often be found at Oxford Circus burger and beer joint Meatliquor.

"It’s good value, consistent, a fun place to be and the food comes out quickly," he told Square Meal.

DOCK KITCHEN

Samantha and Samuel Clark, the couple behind Exmouth Market's famous Spanish eateries Moro and Morito, book a table at Ladbroke Grove's experimental Dock Kitchen when they want someone else to do the cooking.

“We love the diversity of the menus,” they told the Evening Standard.

BRAWN

Michelin-starred chef Angela Hartnett, owner of Italian fine dining restaurant Murano, rates Columbia Road's hip bistro-style Brawn restaurant.

“Brilliant food,” she said.

AL-DAR

Ruth Rogers, chef-owner of Hamersmith's River Café, has eaten at Lebanese restaurant Al Dar, on Kings Road, for years.

She told The Guardian she enjoys the "authentic, strong flavours" and her favourite dish is the Lamb Shawarma.

GILBERT SCOTT

As founding chef of Cinnamon Club, Vivek Singh know a thing or too about grand dining experiences and when he's not enjoy CC's modern Indian cuisine he enjoys British fare at The Gilbert Scott, in the St. Pancras Hotel.

He told The Good Food Guide the eaterie "best sums up British cooking today."

WILLIAM CURLEY

One of Britian's most celebrated patissiers Claire Clark MBE recommends the sweet offerings at William Curley in Belgravia.

She told The Guardian her favourite things about the patisserie are its craft-based nature, chef-sourced ingredients and the focus on flavour and quality.

HEREFORD ROAD

Ollie Dabbous, owner of Whitfield Street's Dabbous, told 2013 guide Where Chefs Eat that he enjoys a "bargain" lunch at Hereford Road in Westbourne Grove.

The restaurant, which is housed in a converted Victorian butcher's shop, serves simple British fare and has a daily changing menu.
