Sure, those Nutella doughnut milkshakes are pretty Instagram-worthy. And who hasn't shared a snap of their smashed avo and poached eggs on toast at brunch?  

But impressive as all these fancy foods may be, there is one food that has Instagrammers reaching for their phones time and time again, and it is the humble pizza. 

New (extremely important) research by Italian chefs Alessio Mecozzi and Klaus Davi found that the doughy piece of heaven beat all other foods with a whopping 17 million hashtags containing the word 'pizza.'

Well we, for one, aren't surprised. You just can't beat that crispy-on-the-outside-moist-on-the-inside dough, bed of tasty tomato sauce, oozing cheese and variety of toppings. 

But just in case you needed convinving, here are a few that will have you salivating. We hope you're not hungry...
