Following the success of Paul – the psychic, World Cup result-predicting octopus – comes Paula, the psychic, World Cup result-predicting octopus.
With Paul (pictured) otherwise engaged (he’s dead unfortunately), Paula, who lives at the Sea Life Aquarium in the German town of Konstanz, bagged top job as chief match predictor in the current women’s World Cup in Germany. Her first prediction was that Canada would beat the hosts in the opening match [actual result: Germany 2; Canada 1].
She did this by swimming into the compartment in her water box which held the Canadian flag, ignoring the German flagged section. Paul had a 100% success rate in 2010, so will Paula – who is one of eight octopuses employed as wobbly crystal balls until the July 17 final – improve her score? Only she could know.
