Ever asked yourself if you're making enough money for the work you do? You might just get the answer to that question today.
By simply scanning your CV, a new online tool claims to reveal the market rate you should be getting paid.
Value My CV took Andrew Hunter and Doug Monro, the founders of UK job search site Adzuna, one year to create after analysing over 50,000 CVs and developing unique algorithms to model the complex results they found.
The result is a remarkably genius technology that can give you a salary by simply scanning your CV, extracting a wide range of information including your work history and education, and comparing your skills and experience against the industry you work in.
We tested one of our old CVs and the quick test game back with surprisingly accurate results.
The tool also tests the quality of your CV and gives a percentage of how high it scores, as well as advice on how to improve it.
For us, it suggested we add a stronger summary section in the document because it "gives people a concise snapshot of your work history and what you can bring to a role. Don't put an objective into your CV though as they take up valuable space and don't add much value." It also highlighted any gaps in our employment that might require further explanation to prospective employers
If you're considering a career change, there is also a useful section which recommends other industries that might suit you and your experience. For each sector, it breaks down the various roles you might want to consider and the latest job openings with salary, company and location details.
Try the test yourself at adzuna.co.uk and come back to tell us how you performed.
