Get ready for Netflix's gripping new cold case docu-series The Keepers

Gather round, true crime obsessives, Netflix is cracking open another cold case that’s set to grip us just as much as Steven Avery’s trial in Making A Murderer.
The Keepers explores the mysterious death of Cathy Cesnik, a 26-year-old Baltimore nun and teacher who went missing for two months in 1969 before her badly beaten body was found on a dumping ground on the outskirts of the city.
Set to launch on May 19, the true crime series will explore "horrific secrets and pain that linger nearly five decades after her death," according to an announcement made by the streaming service on Monday.
The seven-part documentary will also delve into an apparent new lead in the case that came in the 1990s when Jean Wehner, Cesnik’s former pupil, came forward to allege sexual abuse by a chaplain at the school where Cesnik worked.
In a fascinating 2015 investigation into the case by The Huffington Post’s Laura Bassett, Wehner claims the chaplain took her to see Cesnik’s decomposing body and delivered the chilling warning: "You see what happens when you say bad things about people?"
The Keepers is directed by Ryan White, who helmed The Case Against 8, a documentary examining the successful battle to overturn California same-sex marriage ban.
White said: "We never set out in making this to solve a murder, but what has happened through making it is it has drawn people out in a way that wouldn't have happened if there wasn't going to be such a scrutiny or risk of exposure."
