The San Francisco house that became iconic following its appearance in 1993 film, Mrs. Doubtfire, is on the market – for the cool price of $4.5million (£3,458,850).
The exterior of the Victorian turreted property, located in the city’s up-market Pacific Heights, was used in the much-loved film, as the house where Robin Williams’ character’s ex-wife lives. It has since become a popular photography spot for tourists.
The interior shots in the film were actually taken in a set in a warehouse in the Bay Area of San Francisco.
The 2640 Steiner Street address became the setting for an impromptu memorial following Williams’ death in 2014 and today, fans of the late comedic actor continue to lay flowers on its steps.
The house’s celebrity status continued last year, after a woman attempted to burn down the house, following a disagreement between the property’s resident – a plastic surgeon – and a former patient.
But even without its history, the property is pretty incredible. A four-bedroom house built in 1893 by local architect, Joachim B. Mathison, the living and dining rooms are filled with original woodwork and are large and filled with natural light.
Within walking distance to the buzzing local area of Fillmore, Alta Plaza Park and several good schools, it is a dream home for a wealthy family.
The current owner, who has lived there since 1997, is leaving to retire in the wine country – and we suspect he will have a very comfortable time.
