Come together in central London this Saturday 21 January and let’s fight the politics of fear

It probably hasn’t escaped your attention that things are a little topsy-turvy of late, what with a raging misogynist getting into the White House on a campaign built on racism, fear, the normalisation of sexual assault and astonishingly irresponsible demagoguery.

And while it would be nice to sit on the sidelines, pouring scorn on those silly Americans who voted Donald Trump in, some would argue – very effectively – that Nigel Farage and co’s pro-Brexit campaign was run along the very same lines.

Either way, this isn’t just America’s problem. It’s everyone’s problem.

This Saturday, the first day of Trump’s presidency, women, men and children from all over America are marching on their city centres in an effort to promote unity and tolerance, and religious, sexual and political freedom just as, for the first time in a long time, those precious concepts and hard-won rights look threatened.

So, in support of our American sisters and of women worldwide, we too will be marching on Saturday. Stylist is joining womensmarchlondon.com, who are assembling at Grosvenor Square in central London at noon and finishing with a rally in Trafalgar Square from 2pm (you’ll find all the information you should need below).

We’d love to see Stylist readers there too. The aim is to join together and show the world we will defend and protect human rights for all. The legacy will be to form a bond and body of people who will not be cowed by hatred and fear.
