In the wake of last night’s suicide explosion that killed 22 people and left scores more injured at Ariana Grande’s concert in Manchester - Britain’s worst terror attack in a decade – the people of the city came together like only they know how:

Taxi drivers offered free fares to whisk people to safety, hotels gathered stranded children, home owners offered beds for the night to displaced concert affected by cancelled trains from nearby Victoria Station, and many ordinary people caught up in the chaos raced to help the brave people of the emergency services.

But if that were not enough to stir the soul, you only had to look at social media to realise that Manchester wasn’t alone as tributes began pouring in on social media from across the globe.

Not least from entertainment, including many performers who will have played at the Manchester Arena themselves at some point in time:

Many others, including actor Eddie Marsan, were quick to thank the brave men and women of the emergency services, who ran straight into the face of danger and attended to the injured.

Meanwhile, over in LA, a visibly moved James Corden addressed the tragedy after the taping his Late Late Show, delivering a heartfelt love letter to Manchester in which he reminded Americans that while they may have never been to the city they will have felt its impact.

One other LA-based Brit who attempted to send positive vibes to the city was Minnie Driver, who helped get #RoomForManchester trending in a bid to help friends and families find a bed for the night:

Driver, ever excellent on Twitter, was also quick to squash skewed news agendas from the US conservative media before it even began, scalding one controversial news host in particular for spreading falsities and stoking fear:
