It’s official: a Baked Beans bar is coming to London

From glamorous Ferrero Rocher dessert bars, to not-so-glamorous (but still incredible) crisp cafes, we’ve seen plenty of intriguing, delicious and incredibly specific pop-up eateries over the past few months.

And now it has been confirmed that a Heinz Baked Beans bar (as in, yes, a bar serving all things drenched in baked beans) is the next unusual destination for London foodies.

The pop-up – which will be located in the Selfridges Foodhall in London – is slated to open 27 March, to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the iconic “Beanz Meanz Heinz” slogan, and will be serving up some “modern twists” on the much-loved staple, including Beanz with crispy bacon, Beanz with smoked ham hock and Beanz with scrambled egg.

And – because it wouldn’t be beans on toast without a handful of cheddar cheese sprinkled on top – they’re also offering baked-bean fans the opportunity to do just that.

Francesca Mattiussi from Heinz Beanz explains: “Every day, two million people sit down to enjoy Heinz Beanz, whether that’s on toast, with a jacket potato or served alongside other dinner favourites. We wanted to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the advertising slogan ‘Beanz Meanz Heinz’ by offering up some modern twists that people can enjoy not only at our pop-up bar but also re-create within the comfort of their own home.

“We take huge pride in the production of Heinz Beanz, from the laser technology that scrutinises every single bean to the top secret spice recipe we use for the sauce. Maurice Drake’s slogan summed it up perfectly because, when you put that level of care and attention into every single can, only Heinz Beanz will do.”

With dishes costing just £3, we have a feeling this purse-friendly pop-up is going to prove seriously popular. Customers do not need to book in advance; just simply turn up between 9am and 7pm Monday to Saturday or 11.30 am to 6pm on Sundays from 27 March to 23 April.

But you’d better get your skates on, as it won’t the Beanz Meanz Heinz bar won’t be around for long – just four weeks, as a matter of fact. We’ll see you in there…
