Because who doesn’t want to live in a world where the stars of our favourite shows are crafted into realisation using vegetable produce?
Between Boris Johnson leading the UK into even more mayhem, Trump’s blithe, outwardly racist attack on four congresswomen and the explosion of sexist adverts now that we’re fully into the summer months, we’re in dire need of a reason to smile.
To rectify this, we present the weirdest, most wonderful and brilliantly pointless thing you’re bound to see all day: a cabbage which has been carved (very artistically, we might add) into the shape of Jodie Comer’s Villanelle.
This absolute gift came to our attention on Twitter following the Lambeth Country Show in Brixton, London. One of the event’s most anticipated moments is the unveiling of the sculpting competition, in which participants are challenged to create a sculpture using only vegetables. A task that requires skill, patience and flair, we’re sure you’ll agree.
This year the competition was fierce with a staggeringly impressive quality of entries (more on those later), but being the Killing Eve addicts that we are, we have a particular soft spot for Florence Creffield’s entry below, which was crafted using turnips, kale and cabbage.
Explaining her (frankly stunning) take on Comer’s character, ITV reports that Ms Creffield said: “My entry for the Lambeth Country Show vegetable sculpture competition. Villanelle in her Molly Goddard kale dress.
“Her head is a turnip with swede skin hair, her dress is kale and cabbage, boots are baby aubergine and baby corn, eyes and eyebrows are potato skin and tomato skin lips.”
Naturally, the sculpture quickly came to the attention of Comer herself (such is the nature of Twitter), and she’s every bit as impressed as we are.
Commenting on a picture snapped by one of the show’s attendants, the actor wrote: “Leon, I’m touched.”
But what TV show do we love just as much as Killing Eve? It has to be Fleabag, of course, which you’ll be thrilled to know also featured in the event.
Here are some highlights to make your bloody day:
