Emmys 2019: Jennifer Lopez has responded to Emilia Clarke’s viral red carpet moment

Jennifer Lopez has responded to Emilia Clarke, who had nothing but praise for the Hustlers star on the Emmys 2019 red carpet.

We’re still on an Emmys high, after what was arguably the biggest night in TV this year. From Phoebe Waller-Bridge picking up pretty much every award going for Fleabag, to an unexpected trend of clashing red-and-pink gowns – we’re obsessed. Oh, and let’s not forget that speech on equal pay by award winner Michelle Williams

But as the excitement starts to die down, Jennifer Lopez has given us a video that celebrates one of the best red carpet moments. And it involves Emilia Clarke…

Game of Thrones star Clarke attended the ceremony as she was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her role as Daenerys. The actor wore a deep plunge Valentino gown, which she revealed was actually inspired by Lopez’s character, Ramona, in her new film Hustlers.

“I think that J Lo in Hustlers is the greatest introduction of a character I have ever seen,” Clarke told Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet. “I heckled in the cinema. I’m English, I don’t do that, but I did! So J Lo is my inspiration for this evening. I plan on channeling her all night long.”

Now, Lopez has responded in the best way on Instagram.

Sharing the video of the interview in a post, she captioned it: “When the Mother of Dragons meets #Ramona. #dead #HustlersMovie I love u @emilia_clarke #daenerys.”

Fans quickly reacted by praising the “queens supporting queens” moment.

As both women are clearly such huge fans of each other’s work, surely it’s only a matter of time before they meet on the red carpet for a photo?

It was the last Emmys that Clarke attended as a Game of Thrones cast member, as the epic series finally concluded earlier this year. The show won the award for Outstanding Drama Series and the cast spoke about their win at a press conference after picking up the gong.

At the conference, Clarke was faced with a question that a lot of fans have been asking. Insider reports that a journalist asked: “There was a lot of controversy about the ending, and I’m wondering how you reacted to that — especially regarding, of course, the Dragon Queen?”

Kit Harrington, who played Jon Snow, diffused the awkward question by joking: “Controversy? I still haven’t seen the show. So that’s how I dealt with that controversy. I haven’t seen the final season.

“But I know what it took to shoot it, and it was hard, and everyone put all of their love and effort into it,” he continued.

“I think for us, we knew what we were doing was right, story-wise, and we knew that it was right for the characters, because we’d lived with them for 10 years. So the controversy, for us, didn’t really affect us. But thank you for the question.”

Clarke has already moved onto new projects, and her upcoming movie Last Christmas is sure to be the feel-good festive film of 2019. Hopefully, Lopez will join her on the red carpet for that one…
