Considering a move abroad? Expats in 64 countries have been asked to rate their adopted homelands, and the results are in.

Singapore comes top for overall quality of life in the 2015 Expat Insider survey by InterNations, which questioned 14,000 expats - at least 50 in each country - on factors including wellbeing, travel and transport, personal happiness, environment, peacefulness, political stability, safety and health.

The island city-state, which came 6th in 2014, was commended by expats as a place they felt safe in, with 90% of respondents saying personal safety was very good, while political stability and peacefulness also scored highly.

78% of said they were very satisfied with the travel opportunities afforded there, while the transport infrastructure was rated as very good.

Meanwhile, Ecuador and Austria took second and third respectively for overall quality of life: the former coming first for personal happiness, with a large chunk of respondents content with relationships. However Ecuador was lacking in other areas, such as transport and personal safety, according to expats.

Austria, Japan and Portugal top the leaderboard for health, safety and wellbeing, while Australia is rated first for leisure options.

Switzerland (last year's top country), Portugal, Spain, Japan, Czech Republic,Germany and South Korea made up the rest of the top 10 for overall quality of life, while the UK limped behind in 31st place - though we moved up to 20th for leisure options and 19th for travel and transport, so it's not all bad, eh?

The full rankings can be found on the InterNations website and the top 20 places in the world for overall quality of life are below. Where would you rather live?
