A case for more honest wedding RSVPs? This couple's invites let guests say what they really think
Updated 6 years ago
Yes, weddings are generally the happiest day of a couple's life, but the invites aren't always well received.
Knowing this all too well, a couple with a pretty wicked sense of humour have provided their guests with six very tongue in cheek (read: honest) RSVP options.
Australian couple Michael and Wendy from Melbourne, are having a 'destination' wedding to China, where most of Wendy's family reside.
And the soon-to-be married pair are more than aware that the cost of flights and unfamiliar food might put off some of their more guests. A fact of which they've made fun in their reply options.
A guest named Beck has shared the invite calling it the "Best RSVP card I've ever seen."
The invite's RSVP options include:
"No, I/we will not be attending because it’s another friggin’ destination wedding! Back in my day, it was reasonable to decline in Yarra Glen on the grounds of distance and the cost of a bus fair."
And:
"Mike promised to deliver a heartfelt speech and song in Mandarin language. I'd like to record and ridicule him for the remainder of his days."
Definitely a refreshing alternative to the usual 'gratefully accept' or 'regretfully decline' options. Perhaps this is the start of a much more honest approach to wedding RSVPs.
