Far from the witchy, blood-splattered costumes of our teenage years, Halloween as an adult is becoming the ultimate opportunity to express our personality and have a bit of fun.

The internet is currently a fabulous minefield of both celebrities and non-celebrities alike dressing up as a selection of their favourite people and characters. So far we’ve seen an iconic selection of Fleabag-inspired costumes, watched Ashley Graham win Halloween as Jessica Rabbit and fallen in love with this year’s most searched Halloween costume on Pinterest: the Powerpuff Girls.

But the latest story to come from Halloween 2019 might just be our favourite yet. In one of the best examples of a group costume we’ve ever seen, seven friends have shared their Halloween tradition from the last seven years: which sees the women pick a different film star or personality and recreate seven of their best film characters. 

Auburn Salcedo took to Reddit to share the seven-year Halloween diary, with the last picture capturing the group at this year’s celebrations. For 2019, Paige, Aida, Jamie, Lindsay, Lauren, Heather and Auburn took on the many roles of Ben Stiller, and their efforts did not disappoint.

Moving from left to right, the girls dressed up as Stiller in Starsky & Hutch, Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, Zoolander, Tropic Thunder, The Royal Tenenbaums, Heavyweights and Happy Gilmore. Incredible. 

In previous years, the crew have taken their Halloween inspiration from a number of other famous faces. In 2012, they were Johnny Depp, and in 2013, they dressed up as the many faces of Jim Carrey. One of the women even dressed up as the one and only Grinch.

Since then, they’ve also dressed up as versions of Will Ferrell, Robin Williams, Bill Murray and Tom Hanks. 

“We all want to hang out together, and it’s so hilarious when we get together in costume,” one of the girls, Paige Dall, told Insider. “Halloween is so fun, and we get to keep this tradition going with our best friends.”

Putting a group costume together at any time of the year may be a particularly difficult endeavour, but these photos prove that doing so is well worth the blood, sweat and organisational skills used to get everyone in order. 

The group have said they won’t stop until they make it on Ellen, and are currently taking ideas for 2020, so keep your eyes peeled for next year’s iconic photograph.
