Good news for all Gilmore Girls fans: the show might be returning – yet again – to Netflix.

The news comes just a few months after Lorelai Gilmore (Lauren Graham) and her daughter Rory (Alexis Bledel) made a triumphant return to laptop screens across the world last November, in a special four-part miniseries named A Year in the Life.

However, with the miniseries ending on a huge cliffhanger, fans have been wondering what would happen next in the lives of everyone's favourite mother-daughter pair.

But luckily, they may have to wonder no more.

Speaking to the Press Association, chief content officer of Netflix, Ted Sarandos, confirmed that he was in talks with show creators Amy Sherman-Palladino and Dan Palladino about the possibility of filming another series.

“We obviously loved the success of the show, fans loved how well it was done, it delivered what they hoped,” he said.

“The worst thing is to wait a couple of years for your favourite show to come back and for it to disappoint you but they sure delivered and people were really excited about more and we have been talking to them about the possibility of that.”

And Bledel herself had already discussed a possible second return of the show, telling The Hollywood Reporter, “The only thing I can say about a future installment of the show is it would be about the story and certainly the timing / [re the father of Rory’s baby] It all lives in Amy's imagination.

“She has a very clear vision and always has, and we haven’t had input as to the story or the characters on that show very much. On Year in the Life, we did a little bit more than the original run of the show, but it really is all Amy.”

Sarandos added that at this stage the talks are only “preliminary”, but hey – rather preliminary talks than no talks at all.
