Girl's Trip 2: buckle up, that sequel is definitely happening

Jada Pinkett Smith, Tiffany Haddish, Regina Hall and Queen Latifah are all on board for a second movie, and we’re rejoicing.

When Girl’s Trip was released in 2017, it felt like lightning in a bottle.

The four stars – Jada Pinkett Smith, Queen Latifah, Regina Hall and Tiffany Haddish – exploded onto the screen and into our hearts, a foursome so awesome watching them made you want to immediately call your best friends.

The movie was an enormous success, making more than $140 million at the box office and turning Haddish into a household name. For her funny, filthy performance as the group’s wild child Dina, Haddish was named the New York Film Critic Circle’s Best Supporting Actress of the year.

Since 2017 there has only been one question on everyone’s lips: would they make a Girl’s Trip sequel? And today, our prayers were answered, with Queen Latifah confirming that a second movie is on the cards.

“We are all in for Girls Trip 2,” Latifah told People. “We’re just waiting for a script to be honest.”

Latifah even added that there’s a possibility that the four women might write the movie themselves. “Tiffany called me like two weeks ago like, ‘I know me, and you and Jada and Regina get a room, we can write this script,” Latifah said. “She’s talking like she doesn’t a have a job! But we really want to make this happen as soon as possible.”

Looking back at what Latifah’s castmates have said, it’s clear that each of the four women are 100% on board for this film.

“I really miss them,” Pinkett Smith said in January 2019. We stay in contact. We haven’t been able to all get together in a while, but I’m hoping that we’re gonna have this deal figured out so we can a make a Girls Trip 2.”

She continued: “I’m ready for more Flossy Posse, trust me. I’m ready to have some fun with my girls.” In terms of locations, Pinkett Smith expressed a desire to take the vacation international this time round. “We talked about Rio and South Africa,” she said.

Similarly, Hall has said that all four of the women are working together to make Girls Trip 2 a reality. “We’re trying to get everything together with the schedule,” she told Buzzfeed. “I think they’re working on something. I don’t know where we’re going. I don’t know where the girls are going but… we’re going somewhere!”

All we know is this: Girls Trip 2 is happening, and each of the four tripping girls better get a massive pay rise when it happens, too.
