The Gilmore Girls revival may not hit Netflix until the end of November, but we’ve got a treat for fans of the sassiest mother-daughter buddy comedy of all time.

That’s right; the first full-length trailer has finally landed.

And, after examining it very carefully, we’re happy to report that there’s a lot of information packed in to the two minutes and 26 seconds of footage (which you can watch below).

Firstly, it’s safe to say that all three generations of Gilmore women are feeling lost. Emily (Kelly Bishop) is mourning the loss of her husband, Richard – who was played by the late Edward Herrmann.

“I was married for 50 years. Half of me is gone,” she says.

Rory (Alexis Bledel), meanwhile, is feeling overwhelmed by the fact that she has no job, no credit, and no underwear.

It’s also probably worth pointing out that the jet-setting career girl’s return to Stars Hollow coincides with the arrival of all three of her ex-boyfriends.

Yup, Dean, Jess, and Logan all make short cameos in the trailer.

However it’s Lorelai (Lauren Graham) that we’re most worried about. Perpetually restless in the original series, we were originally over-the-moon to see that she’d finally found happiness with Luke – but now, thanks to the trailer, we’ve found ourselves riddled with doubt.

“I thought I knew exactly what I wanted and where I was going. But lately, I don’t know, things seem hazier,” she says in a voiceover.

And, as if to further underline that there’s a possible ‘trouble in paradise’ scenario coming up, she adds doubtfully: “We’re happy. Luke and I, we’re happy.” 

Throw in the fact that she’s spotted drinking coffee from Al’s instead of Luke’s (the ultimate betrayal?), and Loreluke-shippers have a lot to feel concerned about.

There’s also a runaway pig, a hugely welcome return from Melissa McCarthy’s Sookie, lots of walk-and-talks (naturally), and some gorgeous sweeping shots of the sleepy town in Connecticut.

Whatever happens, it’s safe to say that we’re already hooked. After all, once a Gilmore Girl, always a Gilmore Girl.

Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life will consist of just four episodes, each one lasting 90 minutes and focusing on a different season in the year; the first will take place in the winter, the second in the spring, the third in the summer, and the finale in the autumn – or “fall”, as Lorelai and Rory would say.
