While we love each and every single one of the Friends gang equally, there’s no denying that Chandler Bing’s acerbic one-liners are some of the funniest in the show.
Endlessly sarcastic, Matthew Perry’s iconic character is famed for his wisecracks and on-point comebacks (humour is his defence mechanism, remember?).
But, with so many epic one-liners to choose from, it’s hard to pick out a favourite.
Now the man himself has settled the debate once and for all.
Perry was asked for his favourite ever one-liner during a stint on Good Morning America – and, without pausing for thought, he asked audiences to think back to season two’s episode, The One with Ross’s New Girlfriend.
The main storyline, of course, revolved around Ross, Rachel, and the unexpected arrival of Julie. Elsewhere, however, Chandler needs new trousers – and Joey (Matt LeBlanc) quickly recommends that Chandler pay a visit to his long-time tailor, Frankie.
“He did my first suit when I was 15,” he tells his roommate, before beginning to doubt himself. “No, wait, 16... no, excuse me, 15.
Perplexed, Joey then asks: “All right, when was 1990?”
Cue an impatient Chandler quipping: “You have to stop the Q-tip [cotton earbud] when there’s resistance.”
We imagine the joke was probably lost on poor Joey, but Friends fans everywhere loved it.
As the original clip was aired on GMA, Perry could be seen cracking into a huge and happy smile.
But, as the applause from the studio audience died down, the actor was heard quietly admitting that he “misses” the show terribly.
Us too, Perry. Us too.
While we’re always happy to settle down and watch a stash of old Friends re-runs, it feels a little strange seeing Matt LeBlanc as Joey now that we know that another famous actor was originally up for the role.
Vince Vaughn – as in Jennifer Aniston’s co-star in The Break-Up – auditioned for the part back in 1994.
Speaking in a recent interview, casting director Ellie Janner explained that Vaughn was “handsome and tall” and a “good actor” – but, ultimately, just not right for the role.
We wholeheartedly agree with her: nobody can deliver a well-timed ‘How you doin’?’ quite like LeBlanc.
