Watch the first Four Weddings and a Funeral trailer with Nathalie Emmanuel and Andie McDowell
6 years ago
Mark your calendars because the TV series starring Game of Thrones’ Nathalie Emmanuel, Nikesh Patel and Andie MacDowell is coming.
The Nineties classic Four Weddings and a Funeral has had a modern revamp, just in time for our summertime viewing.
Written and produced by Mindy Kaling and Matt Warburton, the Hulu series is due to air on 31 July with later episodes being released weekly.
Fans have been treated to the limited series’ first trailer, which shows a group of old friends reuniting in London in the midst of personal crises. It also gives us a glimpse of original star Andie McDowell making a small but significant appearance in the series.
Here’s everything we know so far about the forthcoming TV series of Four Weddings and a Funeral.
Watch the Four Weddings and a Funeral trailer:
It looks like the perfect blend of humour and romance, while addressing the woes of being a millennial. And our interest in Emmanuel and Patel’s airport encounter is already well and truly piqued. The diverse casting also gets a massive thumbs-up, too.
The plot
Fortunately, the romantic comedy series isn’t going to stray too far from the original plot of the Nineties film. Revolving around four American friends who reunite for a wedding in London, a shocking confession at the altar leads to a year of heartbreak, scandals, more weddings and a funeral.
The first images
Two shots released earlier this year showed Nathalie Emmanuel’s character, Maya. Emmanuel’s Maya is the series’ main character, an American 20-something whose entire friendship group has relocated to London. So that’s where she finds herself recuperating after a bad breakup. Emmanuel told Net-a-Porter that Maya is there to “figure out what she wants with her life, with love and friendship. It’s stuff that we can all relate to.”
