Stop all the clocks: one of our fave rom-coms is back with a vengeance, and it’s all for a very good cause.
25 years after Four Weddings and a Funeral’s release in 1994, the cast are back, performing in a short for the 2019 edition of Comic Relief.
According to Deadline, the cast will include Hugh Grant, Andie MacDowell, Kristin Scott Thomas, John Hannah, Rowan Atkinson, James Fleet, David Haig, Sophie Thompson, David Bower, Robin McCaffrey, Anna Chancellor, Rupert Vansittart, Simon Kunz, Sara Crowe and Timothy Walker, as well as some “special guests”.
“We’re all definitely older – I suspect no wiser. It’s been really enjoyable working out what’s happened to all the characters – and now they get back together for the 5th wedding,” said Curtis. “Where, as usual, not everything will go as planned…”.
Curtis’ writing and life partner Emma Freud has been sharing images from the set of the Comic Relief special, including images of key castmembers Andie MacDowell, Kristin Scott Thomas, Hugh Grant, David Haig and Anna Chancellor, the actress who so memorably played Four Weddings’ Duckface.
The special will be aired on 15 March, during the annual fundraiser for Comic Relief. It will be repeated in the US in May on NBC.
It’s not the first time Curtis has reunited an iconic cast for Comic Relief.
In 2017, the cast of Love, Actually teamed up again for Red Nose Day, Actually. We can’t wait to see what the team have in store this year.
