A Chinese artist has stretched the boundaries of myth and reality, sending a flying monk over key Parisian landmarks in a series of stunning photos.
Li Wei used a suspension wire to hover over the the Fontaine of Lyons at La Villette in Paris, creating the illusion of a mystical flying Buddhist monk.
These astounding shots were captured in the French capital earlier this week.
Beijing-born Li relies on mirrors, scaffolding and perfect timing to conjure up his incredible images, which often sell for thousands of pounds.
"The first reaction is astonishment. Some people think they are full of a sense of humour. They are curious about how I did this," he said.
"Sometimes I am in real danger - I have to hang myself high with steel wires and people do get a little worried for me - but I am fine."
His previous stunts have involved falling from skyscrapers and jumping through windows.
"My work and artistic experience are characterised by a unique specificity and particularity," the 37-year-old said.
