The first ever trailer for Suffragette, the highly anticipated retelling of the 19th and early 20th century feminist movement, has been released.
It's said to be the first ever film to tell the inspirational story of the group who fought for women's right to vote.
The trailer features acting heavyweights Meryl Streep, Helena Bonham Carter and Carey Mulligan as Emmeline Pankhurst (a leader of the British Suffragette movement), Edith New (a Swindon Suffragette) and Maud (a fictional character described as a "foot soldier") respectively.
Anne-Marie Duff, Brendan Gleeson and Ben Whishaw also star in the drama which releases in UK cinemas on 30th October 2015.
"Women who were forced underground to pursue a dangerous game of cat and mouse with an increasingly brutal State," reads the description of the film. "These women were not primarily from the genteel educated classes, they were working women who had seen peaceful protest achieve nothing. Radicalised and turning to violence as the only route to change, they were willing to lose everything in their fight for equality - their jobs, their homes, their children and their lives."
Frequent cinema-goers may have noticed the trailer was trickled out at selected cinemas over the last few weeks, but this is the first time it's been released online. Watch the moving and powerful video below.
