The first teaser trailer for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 has landed.

If, like us, you can still feel the shock from the cliffhanger at the end of the second Hunger Games film, Catching Fire, you'll be looking at this trailer of the third installment for some sort of relief. But it's even more unsettling.

It features the tyrannical President Snow (Donald Sutherland) making a televised address to Panem, in which he praises the nation as "great", "elegant" and one of "peace". The dictator's ominous message describes the importance of the districts standing "together as one" and then warns that those who disobey will face consequences.

"If you resist the system, you starve yourself — if you fight against it, it is you who will bleed," adds the President in his address on 'Capitol TV'.

As the camera pans away from President Snow it reveals Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson), standing obediently next to the President's white throne.

Disconcertingly, there is no sign of Katniss Everdeen in the teaser.

Earlier this week, a series of district-themed posters celebrating Panem’s citizens was released as part of the propaganda-themed campaign to promote the film.

Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson and Elizabeth Banks will make a return in Mockingjay - Part 1, and will be joined by newcomers including Julianne Moore, and Game of Thrones actors, Natalie Dormer and Gwendoline Christie.

Mockingjay – Part 1 arrives in cinemas on 15 November in the UK.
