Dream job alert: become a panda cub nanny

If you're fed up of your office job in the city, this could be the time to jack it all in.

China’s Giant Panda Protection and Research Centre in the country's Sichuan province has launched a worldwide recruitment drive for baby panda nannies.

The organisation is offering 200,000 yuan a year (around £19,000) for dedicated caretakers to feed, clean, love and care for a bunch of infant panda bears.

Food and accommodation at the centre is thrown in on top of the salary.

The organisation currently employs mostly volunteers from Europe, the US and Japan to look after its furry bundles of joy. But they've created a paid position as part of a drive to increase global awareness of the needs of panda conservation.

"Your work has only one mission," the recruitment team told Chinadaily USA. "Spending 365 days with the pandas and sharing in their joys and sorrows."

Apparently "you need perseverance for this job. We expect that the applicants will be mainly white-collar workers from big cities. They are used to eating whatever they want, but inside the giant panda base, the choices will not be plentiful."

We think we could live with it.

The only other requirement for applicants is that they are at least 22 years old and possess "some basic knowledge of pandas."

Yep, we think we're a shoo-in.

Interested parties should apply by July 15. See the video below, from Chinadaily USA, to find out more...
