This male chimp has become something of a champ at a zoo in Thailand after taking on the role of substitute mother to a group of tiger cubs.

Two-year-old Dodo has been feeding the infants milk from a bottle for over a year.

His trainers at the zoo just outside Bangkok initially just wanted to see whether he could rise to the challenge when they presented the cubs to him.

But Dodo fully embraced the role and soon learnt how to feed the baby tigers - aged between three and five months - in a loving and devoted manner that would make any real parent proud.

"It's not difficult as he knows how to hold the bottle. I just taught him to hold it and stay with the cub. I've been teaching him everyday so he can do it," said one of Dodo's trainers, 35-year-old Sirinaj.

The only problem arises when Dodo decides he merely wants to play with the cubs rather than feed them. However, it seems his time as parent is limited as the tigers will eventually outgrow Dodo, and the two species will have to be separated.
